the the the problem is that the the correct answer it seems to me is not aesthetically a very pleasing answer uh the best government is the government that best aligns the interests of the governed with the ordinary with the with the governors and it's what economists call an agency problem and democracy resolves that problem very in a very ugly way but it's the only way we know how to do that and that is basically by the right to eliminate bad leaders that's uh it seems to me that that's the best we can possibly hope for the right to eliminate bad leaders and so far democratic systems seem to be the best ones to do that now it is true that authoritarian systems under certain cases seem to have generated more growth for poor countries but we have to be very careful there have been many authoritarian systems some have generated growth for poor countries and others have ac uh have destroyed the economies of poor countries it's not really clear how we are able to ensure one versus the other uh yeah the first i wouldn't use the word uh you know arthritis i would and emphasize on the role of martial christ people with marriage you know i i think the problem with democracy that people who are not informed don't have basic morals have too much power and so we should give more voice to the meritocrats but at the same time we don't want to get rid of you know popular politician uh completely so there should be two elements merocratic and democratic elements putting together as a government which is not which is not happening uh either in china or in the rest of the world but i hope you know this is a future model for uh every state in uh in the globe
